Information About the Denver Area and Colorado

Denver is the heart of the metropolitan area of 3,000,000 people. Located at the base of the Rocky Mountains, Denver is one of America’s most beautiful cities. Denver has 300 days of sunshine a year, with the nations largest city park system, 90 golf courses and 650 miles of paved bike trails.

The Denver area offers all the activities of a major metropolitan area with museums, the second largest performing arts center in the nation, three college campuses, a world class zoo, parks, concerts, a wide variety of restaurants, sporting events and a top of the line amusement park.

Denver was recently voted the number one sports town in America with Invesco Field at Mile High, Coors Field and the Pepsi Center. Denver is one of the few cities in the nation to offer seven professional sports teams: NFL Denver Broncos; Major League Baseball’s Colorado Rockies; NHL Colorado Avalanche; NBA Denver Nuggets; Arena Football’s Colorado Crush; Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids; and National Lacrosse League’s Colorado Mammoth. Denver also offers horse racing, dog racing, a Grand Prix and the National Western, one of the world’s largest rodeos.

Just west of the metro area, the Rocky Mountains offer a multitude of recreational activities. Skiing is plentiful with Vail, Winter Park, Copper Mountain, Steamboat Springs and many other resort areas. Other pastimes include hiking, biking, rock climbing, fishing, hunting, or just taking it easy and enjoying the view.

Housing is available to match many lifestyles. The suburban or rural locations like Douglas, Elbert and Jefferson County are quite pleasant. If a more urban setting is preferred, maybe a loft next to Coors Field in downtown Denver would be the choice. The Denver metropolitan area is home to numerous universities and colleges including the University of Colorado/Metropolitan State College-Auraria Campus with an enrollment of over 20,000. Denver University, Regis University and many other community and business colleges are located nearby.
